Valogin is a leading manufacturer of brass valves, fittings and distribution manifolds for plumbing, gas and heating systems across residential, industrial and commercial settings worldwide. The engagement began in 2022 as a targeted performance rescue on their existing global site and grew into a two-year technical partnership spanning a full hosting migration, a 70-to-12 plugin debloat, and the design and build of three regional storefronts tailored to market-specific product catalogues.
The Challenge
Valogin’s global site was in critical condition: chronic 503 errors, a mobile PageSpeed score of 43, and a shared Chinese host delivering TTFB in excess of 2 seconds. The site had been built without performance discipline — over 70 active plugins, many handling tasks as trivial as a single icon; unoptimized PNG images exceeding 10 MB; and a 200 MB homepage video in an uncompressed format. The result was a site that crashed under its own weight and ranked poorly in markets where competitors were faster and more reliable.
Beyond the global site, Valogin needed regional storefronts for Brazil, China and the Gulf — not translations of a single catalogue, but distinct sites showcasing products manufactured specifically for each region. Each market required its own design language, its own WooCommerce catalogue structure, and its own hosting environment.
Technical Execution
Phase 1: Global Site Rescue
The first priority was stabilizing the existing site. I created a full backup, then migrated the entire stack to a LiteSpeed server — cutting TTFB from 2+ seconds to sub-200ms. From there, the debloat began: 70+ plugins were audited, consolidated and reduced to 12 essential tools. Images across the site were batch-converted from PNG/JPG to WebP, and the 200 MB homepage video was re-encoded to WebM. The homepage DOM was rebuilt from the ground up to reduce render-blocking depth. The result was a jump from 43 to 90+ on mobile PageSpeed — and the end of chronic 503 errors.
Phase 2: Regional Site Architecture
The performance rescue convinced the client to expand the engagement. Three regional sites followed:
-
Brazil (
valogin.com.br): Full rebuild on a dedicated server, independent WooCommerce catalogue with Brazil-specific product lines -
China (
valogin.com.cn): Full rebuild on a dedicated server, localized catalogue and design layout -
Gulf (
valve.valogin.com/gulf): Sub-directory build under the global domain, with a distinct layout and region-specific product catalogue
Each regional site was designed and developed independently — no templated clones — with its own information architecture, product filtering and catalogue structure built around what each market actually stocks.
The Outcome
What began as a performance fix became a multi-year technical partnership. Valogin’s global site now runs stable and fast on infrastructure built to scale, and the regional sites give the company market-specific storefronts that reflect actual product availability rather than forcing a one-size-fits-all catalogue. The client extended the engagement twice — first to build the regional sites, then to maintain the architecture as the product range grew.
The project was handed off to the client in 2024.
The China site has since been migrated to a proprietary ASPX stack by the client’s internal team; the Brazil and Gulf sites remain on the original WordPress architecture.
